Catholic Apostolate Center Collaborates on World Youth Day Resources
July 19, 2016
WASHINGTON, DC - As World Youth Day (WYD) approaches, the Catholic Apostolate Center has been working with other Catholic organizations to collaborate on resources for pilgrims attending the celebration in Krakow, Poland, and those attending stateside events. Working with the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) World Youth Day Office, the Center has launched a web portal at: www.WYD2016.us.
This website features guides for leaders of both international and stateside pilgrimages, in downloadable and e-book formats. Center Director, Fr. Frank Donio, S.A.C. contributed to the creation of each of the guides. Videos preparing pilgrims for World Youth Day are also hosted on the website. These videos feature USCCB staff, bishops, Fr. Frank, and WYD leaders, with tips and guidance on how to get the most out of the World Youth Day experience.

Also on the website are videos featuring several staff and collaborators of the Center offering practical tips for those attending WYD in Krakow. These videos, from WYD alumni, are a quick and easy way to prepare for the experience in Poland.
Every Wednesday, the Center publishes a blog as part of its #WYDWednesday series. These blogs have been written by World Youth Day alumni and leaders along with several U.S. bishops including: Bishop Frank Caggiano of the Diocese of Bridgeport, Bishop Edward Burns of the Diocese of Juneau, and Bishop Christopher Coyne of the Diocese of Burlington.
These blogs, along with catechetical and spiritual formation resources, can be found on WYD2016.us or by clicking the image below.

A mobile app for the pilgrim journey, developed by the American Bible Society and the USCCB World Youth Day Office, has also been launched. The app, PILGRIMAGE, will provide spiritual resources for pilgrims before, during, and after World Youth Day 2016. Users will find ongoing spiritual food for thought through Bible study, goal setting, and daily prayer shared by Catholics around the world. Resources from the Catholic Apostolate Center are featured on the app including blogs and videos.
The Center will also dispatch Curriculum Coordinator, Sarah Jarzembowski, to Krakow to gather on-the-ground updates and interviews with bishops, church officials, and pilgrims. These updates and interviews will be used stateside for spiritual formation of pilgrims gathering across the United States and those who join the pilgrimage digitally.
Additionally, the Catholic Apostolate Center is serving as a key partner and largest contributing sponsor for the Archdiocese of Washington's Krakow in the Capital celebration. This event, expected to draw over 1,000, will be taking place on July 30th in Northeast Washington, DC. The Center will be providing staff, volunteers, resources, and funding to ensure that the event will be a meaningful spiritual experience for all.

The Center is honored to accompany World Youth Day pilgrims stateside, internationally, and digitally on their journey by providing quality resources before, during, and after WYD to aid in the overall experience. We invite all pilgrims to take the encounter with Jesus Christ, fostered by pilgrimage, beyond the mountaintop in order to create a church of missionary disciples.

The Catholic Apostolate Center is a ministry of the Society of the Catholic Apostolate (Pallottines) - Immaculate Conception Province. It was founded in 2011 to respond to the needs of the Church through developing - in collaboration with dioceses and other institutions and organizations - formation programs for the New Evangelization; assisting pastoral leaders in deepening collaboration with one another; and providing formation opportunities for members and collaborators of the Union of Catholic Apostolate.
The Center takes its inspiration from the spirituality of St. Vincent Pallotti and achieves its goals through hosting conferences, seminars, webinars, and presentations as well as providing online and print resources.
