Goals of Apostles on Mission
Understanding the initiative and purpose of the program:
Who: While geared towards young adults, (18-39 years old), Apostles on Mission is adaptable for any age group.
What: A program consisting of 10, 90 minute sessions dedicated to accompanying participants through the transformative process of discovering their vocation as apostles, while pairing them up with local Catholic leaders as mentors.
Why: Today, it often seems that the laity experience something akin to an identity crisis. They are unaware of their baptismal call to “go out to the nations” as apostles and proclaim the tenderness, love, and mercy of God.
How: Using the four-fold methodology of evangelization set aside in Living as Missionary Disciples: a Resource for Evangelization, the Catholic Apostolate Center seeks to accompany your diocese through the process of developing and adapting the Apostles on Mission program for your own locality.

This initiative is designed to help young adults respond to the desire for God in the world by using their gifts in service to their parish and the larger world. It is done in two ways:
Formation for the New Evangelization – This initiative is committed to forming young adults theologically and ministerially for the work of the New Evangelization, preparing participants to engage with the challenges facing their local communities as well as the greater society. Through an interactive online or onsite experience, participants will learn from experienced and nationally recognized Church leaders and engage with peers on how to live out faith as apostles, women and men chosen and sent on mission by Jesus Christ and his Church. During this formation, young adults gain the tools necessary to assume a proactive role in the Church’s mission of Evangelization.

Evangelization Start-ups - This initiative is designed to give practical ministry opportunities, supervision, and support to young adults. Participants will be paired with a skilled and experienced mentor as they engage with a start-up that is relevant to the talents of the individual and the needs of the community being served. This initiative is meant to compliment the in-class formation, and provide lay women and men with practical tools that can be most accessibly gained through experience and reflection.
